Once Upon a Time

I bought a bookstore because it was for sale and I love to read!

Did I know how to run a bookstore? No! Of course not!

Fortunately, the original owners agreed to be available in case I needed help.

One morning a pretty-young girl came in asking for this book.

Having never heard of it, I went to check the section.

As I rang up her selection, she clutched the book to her chest and in near tears exclaimed this book had changed her life, forever!

After she left, a vacant room opened within my chest… how could this young person have found what I had not realized I was seeking?

Her authentic self.

Making a mental note to review the book when the replacement arrived, I went back to work.

Two days later when the book arrive I scanned the pages, saw God this and God that and placed it on the shelf as another New Age religious book.

Twenty long years passed.

During the end of one year and the beginning of a new year I set a personal record: fired from my job as the company released all female employees: kicked out of church and told where a nice white church was ‘just down the road’: and registered for unemployment!

It felt as if I had been banished! Fired because I’m female, evicted because I’m the wrong color, and reduced to going on the dole.

…and then, the Book found me! After 20 years, and again at the cross-roads of my life, I discovered metaphysics, the study of cause, not effects.

…and now, I am the one to clutch the book to my chest because:

it changed my life, Forever!
