It takes time and it is not easy — when the hospital called to say my mother may not make it through the night I drove 100 miles to be there. She told me to get out because she was dying!

Later I discovered the name we all knew her by was not even on her birth certificate. Plus, she was two months pregnant with my brother when she married my father!

When we think about what a mother should behave like, keep in mind they are just the vessel for our entrance into the world. What we do with it is up to us. Children do not come with a book of instructions — at least this is what I told my first four children born a year apart! (*;*)
