As I read through the responses I am touched by how many have had a background of hurt. The comfort comes when I accept I was not the only one! What rings true is our backgrounds are what made us the people we are today.
It took several years to go back to the beginning, in my mind and take a look at the events from an adults perspective. What I learned is I had been taking the blame for the hurts, when in fact, I was a mere child when everything began! This allowed me to let go of the hurt. But, Boy, do I have stories!
Years ago, I met a lady on a bench in a park, her words are still powerful…
“People will treat you — any-way- YOU LET- them!”
This thought usually brings me back to normal.
I cannot imaging a life of growing up without the drama — how boring that would be! We do not learn from falling down - we learn from getting up!
When I owned a bookstore in San Francisco I put my 15 year-old daughter to work, also. I told her to look around at the thousands of books in this shop and you will not find one book written by someone who who lived the perfect life! Why? Because no one would ever read it!
People like to read something they can relate too.
You lead. Love follows…
